Karuna Yoga Teacher Training
Lisa Babiuk, E-RYT 500
Over the years of studying movement through many different forms of fitness and wellness the contraints that have been placed upon the body at times was disconcerting as evident by the various injuries and chronic issues that came up. Yoga was no exception but certainly embodied more of what I already suspected: we move from inspiration that we have within ourselves.
Karuna Yoga is a culmination of the study of movement from a kinesthetic approach by understanding the myofascial system and the practice of reiki to understand the wholeness of well-being. You can't address one part without looking at the system as a whole. You can't ignore experiences that impact us in a way that limits our freedom of movement; physcially, mentally, emotionally, energetically, intellectually and spiritually.
Why can one body move one way and yet another is limited in it's movements? How does this impact our practice? How does this impact our day to day life?
Fascia is the tissue that brings what we know as the "parts" together as a "whole". When you move only one part of the body, the whole will respond. We use the concept of tensegrity to engage in a yoga practice that strengthens the whole while increasing mobility.
Fascial rolling has become very popular and while it is very beneficial, the other side of the equation is addressed in Karuna Yoga. The awareness of how we move the parts, recognizing what isn't moving properly and has dissconnected from the whole, brings new awareness to movement that addresses each individual student's needs. This practice presents us with the opportunity to address chronic pain caused by repetitive, misalgined movements that get to the root cause of the problem.
This teacher training offers 200 hour certified teachers an opportunity to move beyond what is traditionally known about anatomy and physiology and engage in a simple yet highly effective approach by understanding the tensegrity and resiliency of movement and remodelling through yoga.
Through this experience you will work with the “space” that hold the experiences that shapes the fascia and engage in the eight limbs to illuminate the obscurity in the intelligence of movement of body, mind and soul.
